TCS London Marathon 2025

I'm running the London Marathon for the Stroke Association!

100,000 strokes happen in the UK each year (that's one stroke every five minutes), you never think it will happen to you or someone you love, until it does.

As some of you might know, My dad suffered a stroke in November 2014, leaving him with Global aphasia and Epilepsy. The impact of a stroke is profoundly unique—it transformed our world in ways we never imagined. The uncertainty of what lies ahead is something we face every day.

You know when someone says, "I know what you're going through", but they don't, not really. The Stroke Association provide support not just for survivors but also for the families who are deeply affected. Their webinars, articles and monthly newsletters are more than just updates, they are lifelines filled with stories from people from all walks of life, offering insight into the diverse ways strokes impact people. Your donation can help them provide essential support and resources to those in need. Thank you for being part of this journey and helping to bring hope and help where it’s needed most.

My updates

14 weeks to go!..

Saturday 18th Jan
I’m feeling a mixture of excitement and nerves. It’s been an eye-opening journey so far, and I wanted to share some updates on how things are going.

I started training in September with a detailed training plan, which was a great guide initially. But as I got further into my training, I realised the importance of listening to my body and making adjustments. Balancing weight training 3-4 times a week with running every other day became overwhelming, and I struggled to get beyond 8km without feeling drained.

So, I made some changes and it’s made all the difference! I’ve recently hit 12km, 15km, and my latest milestone—16.5km—at my best pace times yet. With the weather getting warmer, I’m looking forward to getting off the treadmill and spending more time running outside.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey so far and donated, I'm so grateful for you all.

Some runs in the sun

Wednesday 18th Dec
Last week, I was lucky to spend a few days in Spain with my dad and do some training under the (unexpected) sun!

Feeling the warmth on my skin (and actually being able to feel my hands..) was a welcome change from the UK’s unpredictable weather. On my last morning there, Dad joined me on my run, cycling alongside while serenading the neighbours (which I’m sure they loved at 8am on a Sunday😅).

I’m so proud of how far he’s come and everything he continues to achieve despite the challenges he faces. Forever grateful for moments like these.

20 weeks to go!

Saturday 7th Dec
After two weeks off due to illness, I'm back to training! The weather’s been tough—thanks Storm Darragh 😅 but I’ve got some new gear to keep me motivated (and warm) .

I want to say a BIG thank you again to everyone who has donated, I feel so lucky to have the friends and family I do supporting me through all of this. I truly wouldn't be able to do it without you all.

Training has officially begun!

Saturday 28th Sep
Ahh! I started my marathon training plan this week. I’ve run on and off over the past few years, but always for my mental health. This time round I’m focusing on distance and time. I’ve surprised myself already at the progress I’ve made, from getting a bit out of breath from a 2km to being able to run over 6km without realising it. The biggest lesson I’ve learnt so far is how important it is to warm up and cool down, oh and eating before and after (no one tells you how unhungry you are after a big run but you have to get something down!). I also want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has donated so far, I’m overwhelmed with the support I’ve received. My mission is to raise awareness of strokes- before my dads stroke I didn’t realise the impact they had to the stroke survivor or their family, it effects every part of your life. My dad was a relatively healthy man before (come on who didn’t enjoy a beer or Friday night takeaway?!), but since his stroke he’s now living with global aphasia, epilepsy, has a pace maker and various medications he has to take on a daily basis. His ability to look on the bright side is inspirational and I’m so proud of everything he continues to do despite the challenges.

Thank you to my sponsors
