Edinburgh Marathon Festival 2026

I'm taking part in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival 2026 as part of #TeamStroke

This charity means so much to me because my grandma suffered a severe stroke in May 2020, right in the middle of the Covid pandemic. After surviving the stroke, she had to spend four months in hospital completely alone, with none of us allowed to visit. It was an incredibly difficult time for all of us, as she’s the rock of our family, and not having her near took such a toll on everyone.

Since her stroke, she has lost many basic life skills we all take for granted, such as speaking and walking. Watching her go through this has been heartbreaking, but also inspiring.

My grandma is one of the strongest people I know. She survived something so frightening and faced it alone at the start. Her strength, resilience, and determination to keep fighting forward inspire me every single day.

That’s why I’m running a half marathon in May to raise money for the Stroke Association — to support others affected and to honour her journey. Any donation or share would mean the world 💜

The Stroke Association works to prevent stroke, fund research, and provide lifelong support for stroke survivors, their families, and carers through services, a helpline, and campaigns.
