Birthday fundraising
You can support people affected by stroke for your birthday.
Celebrate your birthday by supporting stroke survivors. Ask friends and family for donations instead of gifts, and together you’ll provide vital support and fund critical research.
Ask for donations instead of gifts
There are a few ways to fundraise in celebration of your birthday.
Register your fundraiser
Let us know you're going to fundraise for your birthday this year. You'll automatically set up an online fundraising page you can share with your friends and family so they can start donating.
If you'd prefer, you can set up a Facebook fundraising page or a JustGiving page. You can spread the word to all your friends that you’re raising money for the Stroke Association.
If you’re organising a birthday party, you can have a collection box at your gathering. We’ve also got branded balloons, tablecloths and banners to help raise awareness of your fundraising. Order materials on our online shop.

Linda's story
Linda supported us in celebration of her 50th birthday. You can join her and help stroke survivors find strength through support
Before her stroke, Linda had always been an independent person. She lives in Yorkshire and would commute to Manchester to work.
But life was turned upside down when she had a hemorrhagic stroke. Originally diagnosed with sinusitis, Linda returned to her GP after her immense headache persisted. They told her to go straight to hospital. A CT scan showed a bleed on her brain. Linda said, ‘At the time I was in denial, I was 42 and healthy so how was it a stroke'.
'I didn’t realise how exhausted I would be. I was off sick from work for just over two months. I couldn’t drive for the first month. Every little task I did required a nap which was frustrating.’
‘I’d become tired very quickly, was quite emotional and easily upset.’
It's now been 10 years since she had her stroke.
‘It’s taken me a long time to accept that I’ve had a stroke, I didn’t want to be defined as a stroke victim. I felt guilty, a fraud and sad for hubby as I wasn’t the person he married; we’d only been married two years.’
‘For the last few years, I have mourned the original Linda. Linda v2.0 is now emerging and becoming stronger every day. I’m embracing new opportunities, including appearing on Blue Peter with one of my dogs, Reggie, as well as Radio 2. I'm also incorporating strength training into my lifestyle.’
By fundraising in celebration of her birthday, Linda helped other stroke survivors to find the strength and determination they need to find their way back to life.
‘I’m of an age where I don’t need more stuff so thought I’d try and give something back.’
