Chicago Marathon 2026

I'm taking part in the Chicago Marathon 2026 as part of #TeamStroke

I joined #TeamStroke for the Chicago Marathon 2026.

There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

We're here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

Running again !

Thursday 11th Jun
Finally after what seems like forever I’m running again !

Getting there !

Wednesday 13th May
Three weeks on from my emergency Gallbladder surgery ! I’m out and about walking again ! Realistically, I have another 2 to 3 weeks before I can start Running gently , Hopefully putting me in a position to start marathon training on the 22nd of June ( 16 week plan ) My goals have changed ! But my intent has got stronger

Wednesday 13th May

Ruptured gangrenous gallbladder removal

Wednesday 13th May
I’d been training for four weeks, My fitness was returning ! And then on the 26th of April whilst on holiday in Pittsburgh, I was rushed into hospital with a ruptured gangrenous gallbladder !

Following knee surgery in December

Wednesday 13th May
I had a Full meniscus repair operation on December 19th ( 12 to 16 weeks Recovery ) Before running

Training will resume soon

Wednesday 13th May
Following my entry to the Chicago Marathon, I unfortunately tore my meniscus in my left knee , which required meniscus repair surgery , this left me sidelined for five months !
I literally started my training in April , but unfortunately on the 26th of April, I had a ruptured gangrenous gallbladder whilst on holiday in Pittsburgh !
I am hoping to start running again in two weeks ( end of May ) and start my marathon plan on the 22nd of June !
It’s not been straightforward so far ! Here is hoping it gets better

My reason my dad !

Wednesday 3rd Dec
Chicago Marathon has always been a bucket list for me ! To do it for my dad who had a huge brain stem stroke and died 11 years later from direct complications , Makes it even more special to do this event for this amazing charity
My dad had a stroke in 2003 , It left him totally disabled , With Myself, my mum and my brother and carers we had to look after his every need ! We had to feed him , Wash him , take him To the toilet , And clean him after
However, his mind and brain never faltered , we used to go on holiday still , we went to watch his football team regularly, Living his life to the fullest until he passed away in November 2013 ! I dedicate this training plan, this Race , and every penny raised to anyone Who requires help following a stroke? God bless Good morning
