I'm taking part in the Great North Run 2026 as part of #TeamStroke

I joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run 2026.

After 20+ years of supporting the amazing runners of the GNR on the sidelines and after losing 6.5stone, I've decided to run it myself in 2026. I'm no runner but Im training hard and trying my best to be ready for Sept '26.

My lovely Mam suffered numerous strokes and TIA's prior to her passing in 2020 and I've decided to support the Stroke Association and run in her memory. She would have been so proud !!!

There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

No survivor should have to face life after stroke without stroke support, providing consistent, tailored help on the long journey to recovery.

We work with the stroke community to ensure the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
