I'm taking part in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival 2026 as part of #TeamStroke
In February 2019, my wonderful Nan suffered a stroke that changed her life completely. It left her unable to walk or talk, but her strength and spirit never faded. Despite everything, she faced every day with courage and love.
Our family visited her often, and my daughter Lola, who was only 2 when Nan had her stroke formed the most special bond with her great nanny. Lola would sing to her, chat away, and draw her pictures, and Nan’s face would light up every time she saw her.
Watching Nan go through so much was heartbreaking, but seeing how strong she remained until the day she passed in 2025 was truly inspiring. Our family became so close through it all, and we’re forever grateful for the time we had with her 💜
We’re raising money for the Stroke Association to help support others going through what our family did, to fund vital research, recovery, and care for stroke survivors and their loved ones.
Every donation, big or small, means so much. 💜
There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.
We're here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
