Brighton Marathon 2027🌟 #TeamStroke

Hi, my name is Sophia Sorrell and in April 2027 I will be taking part in the Brighton Marathon! 🏃‍♀️

This will be my first full marathon which I am lucky enough to be completing alongside my mum. Therefore, I wanted to complete this challenge for a cause very close to my heart: The Stroke Association. 

In October 2023, my Grandma passed away following a catastrophic stroke. She was, without a doubt, the most incredible, kind-hearted and funniest woman I have had the privilege of growing up with. She gave my family more love and support than we could ever put into words, and not a day goes by that she isn’t with me. As much as I would give anything to have her still here, I know she would be so proud of me. That’s why I want to complete this challenge in her memory, and for everyone else whose lives have been impacted by the devastating effects of Stroke.

Beyond my own family’s experience of losing someone we love, I know that so many people have either experienced a Stroke themselves or been affected through a close friend or family member. It is such an important cause, and I feel incredibly honoured to be able to raise money for the Stroke Association whilst working towards a personal goal of my own.

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. With strength, determination and the right support, recovery is possible.

By taking on this challenge with Team Stroke, I’ll be fundraising to provide tailored support to tens of thousands of stroke survivors each year, fund vital scientific research, and campaign for the best possible care and support for everyone affected by stroke.
