I joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run 2026.

There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

No survivor should have to face life after stroke without stroke support, providing consistent, tailored help on the long journey to recovery. 

We work with the stroke community to ensure the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

Great North Run

This year I’m running my first Great North Run for the Stroke Association!
I’m not used to completing long races on my own, usually being in a boat with 8 other girls to help haul me over the finish line, so I’ve managed to drag my dad, who is a keen runner, to do the race with me! 
Our family has been supporting the Stoke Association for nearly 20 years after my grandfather sadly passed away due to complications from a stroke. Huge amounts of progress has been made since then, but there is still more to be done.
