I've joined #TeamStroke for the Cardiff Half Marathon 2027.

There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

No survivor should have to face life after stroke without stroke support, providing consistent, tailored help on the long journey to recovery. 

We work with the stroke community to ensure the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

My story

Thursday 22nd Oct
2 years to the day of the race my gentle giant of a dad suffered a massive stroke. To say this has changed our lives is an understatement. After initially being sent to The Princess of Wales in Bridgend he was then blue lighted to Bristol where he underwent an operation which unfortunately resulted in a second stroke. We thought we'd lost him forever. But through determination and the amazing resilience and love and care of my mother he came home after 5 months. He is still making progress very slowly but the old Gerald is still there with his sense of humour.
