I'm taking part in the Great North Run 2026 as part of #TeamStroke

I joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run 2026.

There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

No survivor should have to face life after stroke without stroke support, providing consistent, tailored help on the long journey to recovery. But it’s not just the survivor who needs support, it’s also the family and friends, to try to make sense of what is happening and to support the survivor as best they can. As with all health services, supply cannot meet demand so the work of the Stroke Association is vital. They work with the stroke community to ensure the very best care and support and rely on kind donations to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
