'I'll be running the TCS London Marathon 2027 for the Stroke Association, proud to be part of #TeamStroke.'
I'm taking part in the TCS London Marathon 2027 with #TeamStroke, running for the Stroke Association.
Stroke changed my family's life when I lost my dad to a stroke in 2014. Every mile of this marathon will be run in his memory - and to help fund the research and support that help people overcome the disabilities stroke leaves behind.
Why this matters:
In the UK, someone has a stroke roughly every five minutes, and it's one of the country's leading causes of death, responsible for around 34,000 deaths a year. It's also the leading cause of disability in the UK, with around 100,000 people having a stroke each year and 1.3 million stroke survivors currently living across the UK - more than half of them left with a lasting disability.
It doesn't just affect the person who has the stroke. It reshapes entire families - carers, partners and children overnight.
The Stroke Association is there for people from the moment a stroke happens - through emergency recovery, rehabilitation, and the years of adjustment after. They fund research into prevention and treatment, run a support helpline, and campaign for better stroke care for everyone, wherever they live.
I'm aiming to raise £3,000 - every pound helps fund that support, research, and campaigning work. Whatever you can give, big or small, means a huge amount to me and will make a real difference to people affected by stroke today.
Thank you for reading this far, and for any support you can offer.
