I'm taking part in the Great North Run 2026 as part of #TeamStroke
I joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run 2026 after my sister suffered 3 strokes in a matter of weeks pre christmas 2025. As a consequence she will be bed bound for life, requiring 2x carers 24hrs a day as she’ll need assistance with everything. Thankfully her speech hasn’t been affected excessively and we are able to have treasured conversations to which she brings her wonderful sense of humour. As a family we know our daughter/sister/mother is still making us smile, making us proud of her determination to achieve every small step/challenge that she faces.
Please donate so that research continues into the causes and treatment of strokes for both those suffering and those caring for stroke survivors ❤️
A message from the Stroke Association follows:
There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.
No survivor should have to face life after stroke without stroke support, providing consistent, tailored help on the long journey to recovery.
We work with the stroke community to ensure the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
