Brighton Marathon 2025

I'm taking part in the Brighton Marathon as part of #TeamStroke and in memory of both mine and Kayleigh’s grandads, but also for support of Kayleigh’s dad

I’m not one to usually get nervous or overwhelmed by much, but this will be my biggest running task I’ve ever taken on.

I’ll be running the Brighton Marathon for my running club Burnham On Sea Harriers, but also raising money for The Stroke association. This run will be in memory of my grandad, and also running for Kayleigh’s Dad who survived having a stroke.

We have ran for The Stroke association before and I would like to do so again to try and raise some money to help combat against this cruel and horrible disease.

I joined #TeamStroke for the Brighton Marathon 2025.

There are over 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

We're here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

I know times are hard, but if you could be so kind to donate and help this amazing charity please do.

Thankyou Rhys ❤️

My updates

Summing up the year

Tuesday 31st Dec
First of all it’s been a while since my last blog, and honestly it’s been a very busy end to the year. Thankyou everyone who has sponsored me to help support this amazing charity. It really does mean so much to me and The Stroke Association.

Can’t believe I’ve ran my final run of this year today, and it is week 4 of 16 for the Brighton Marathon training plan.

I achieved so many personal achievements this year, but also one very big realisation. My mindset has had to change because of what happened, but it’s inspired me to do and be better.

The support from my friends and family has been immense and hope to do each and every one of them proud.

Thankyou 2024, here is to a very happy and prosperous 2025.

The start of a long journey

Sunday 15th Dec
So started my marathon journey with a parkrun on the Saturday and a 10K race on Sunday.

The parkrun was good, took it easy and felt good whilst at it.

When doing the 10K i had it in mind to go for it. I was out to beat my previous time and smashed it.

Thankyou all for the continued support and generosity that you have given to this amazing charity. You will all spur me on to keep achieving mine and the Stroke Associations goals. ❤️

Not usually a blogger or a vlogger

Friday 22nd Nov
So this is my initial post, pre marathon training is going well, feeling good and positive about the exercise, but the task ahead is a little daunting. I’ll probably update this weekly for people once the marathon training starts.

A added note Thankyou to people taking the time to read this and to people who will hopefully donate to this amazing charity. The support will get me through this ❤️
