I'm taking part in the TCS London Marathon as part of #TeamStroke
A few years ago, my life changed when I suffered a stroke. It was one of the most challenging times I’ve ever faced — physically, emotionally, and mentally.
I had a stroke at 18 years old, whilst at home with my family, luckily my mum knew the signs and rushed me to hospital from this point it was all a blur. Luckily i had no life threatening side effects but i did have to learn my coordination with my hands again which is a challenge you don’t expect to face at 18. At the time I didn't even know that a young person could have a stroke and i think it's so important to raise more awareness in younger people what these signs are.
Whilst i was in hospital it made me realise just how short and fragile life is so it’s important to do everything to the fullest and push urself. Now, I’m taking on something I have always wanted to do — running the London Marathon. I’m doing this to raise awareness, show that recovery is possible, and most importantly, to give back to the Stroke Association for the life-changing work they do every day.
Stroke association was there for me throughout and since having a stroke, doctors were able to find a hole in my heart that without i never would have known about and i have since had surgery to close this.
I have always watched the London Marathon and cannot wait to be part of the Class of 2026.

What a challenging periord this was for you, so young to be dealt a bad hand, you pulled through with the help and support of your family, back as strong as ever taking on your next challenge.
