I'm taking part in the Edinburgh Marathon 2026 as part of #TeamStroke
I'm taking part in the Edinburgh Marathon 2026 in memory of my Nan who was one of the 30,000 people infected with Hepatitis or HIV as part of the contaminated blood scandal in the 1990s.
Chronic Hepatitis C infection is known to increase the risk of stroke, and my poor Nan later suffered multiple severe strokes that led to her untimely passing.
I’ve always been told that I’m just like her - I look like her, I laugh like her, and I think like her. I was only 6 when she died, but her story has stayed with me for as long as I can remember. I am running for her, all of the other stroke victims, and their families.
