My Reason 🩷
Next year, I’ll be taking on the Great North Run for someone incredibly special to me — my Grandad!
My Grandad had a stroke, and thankfully he is still here with us. But it has made me realise that although people may sometimes think of a stroke as something that only affects the person who has suffered it, the reality is that its impact reaches so much further.
Even a minor stroke can have a huge effect, not only physically and emotionally on the person experiencing it, but also on their family and friends. It can change everyday life, bring uncertainty, and affect the people who love and care for them in ways you don't always see from the outside.
I’m running next year to show my support for my Grandad and to raise awareness of just how much strokes can impact everyone around them.Â
The Great North Run will definitely be a challenge, but knowing I’m doing it for my Grandad gives me all the motivation I need.Â
If you’re able to support me, whether that’s through a donation, sharing my fundraising page or simply cheering me on, it would mean so much to me! 🩷
