I've joined #TeamStroke for the stunning Bath Half Marathon 2026, taking in some of Bath's famous landmarks on closed roads. It's an event not to be missed
There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.
We're here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

Reason for doing Bath half
Wednesday 30th Apr 2 months ago I had the dreaded phone call that my dad at the age of 55 had had a stroke. Words can’t describe how quickly your world crumbles when you hear those words. Luckily, my dad was quickly blue lighted to Bristol where he had a thrombectomy. Nothing can prepare you for those next few days of sitting by a beside wondering what happens next, what life looks like going forward. Luckily my dad is the biggest fighter I know, he pushed everyday and we are lucky that he pulled through. However, currently life does look a bit different due to my dad’s speech being impaired due to his stroke. But with the help of the stroke association and the resources they’ve provided us prepared us for the challenge ahead, meaning we could better support my dad. My dad is set to start speech and language therapy this month with our local stroke association team. Not only that but our local representative has been to our house to support not only my dad but my step mum. This charity has quickly become so close to my heart and that is why I am lucky to have a charity place to run Bath half marathon.
