I'm taking part in the TCS London Marathon as part of #TeamStroke
I joined #TeamStroke for the TCS London Marathon 2025.
As many of you know, my father, an avid runner and marathoner, suffered a hemorrhagic stroke in July of 2021. It left the entire left side of his body paralyzed. He was unable to swallow, speak easily, or walk.
We still have no conclusion on what provoked this, as he was healthy and just coming back from a run when his hand started to go numb.
Through the incredible work of his physical and occupational therapists (aka living angels) and the support of friends and family, he was able to regain most mobility, with the exception of his left arm.
I have fundraised for many worthy causes over the years (Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, St. Jude's, and Achilles) which all do incredible work. I have been looking for a way to support stroke survivors and it's been very difficult for me to find a charity that works specifically with strokes. Believe it or not, there aren't a ton of accessible resources. When I came across this opportunity, I could not pass it by!
We're here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
Thank you so much for your continued generosity and support. It is going to be extra special to be able to run The London Marathon knowing that I am supporting a cause that has impacted our family and in honor of my marathon- running dad.
