I'm taking part in the Great North Run 2026 as part of #TeamStroke
I joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run 2026.
There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.
No survivor should have to face life after stroke without stroke support, providing consistent, tailored help on the long journey to recovery.
We work with the stroke community to ensure the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

Nick’s Story
Sunday 15th FebThree years ago, I was training for a half marathon when my life changed in an instant. I suffered a stroke caused by a bleed on the brain due to high blood pressure.
Instead of chasing a finish line, I had to relearn how to walk, talk and write. I lost the job I loved in scaffolding and faced some very dark moments along the way. During rehabilitation, I also suffered a rotator cuff injury that required surgery, another setback in an already difficult journey.
But this morning, I ran 2.5 miles.
In September, I will be taking on the Great North Run. Not just for myself, but to raise money for the Stroke Association to support others who are facing the same fight I have.
Every mile is proof that recovery is possible. And every donation helps someone else believe that too.
