My story behind running for #TeamStroke
Hi,I have joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run 2026.
This charity is one very close to me and my family. I am running in memory of my beloved grandma, who we sadly lost after battling with strokes for the best part of 5 years.
She was continuously brave, compassionate, carefree and an absolute inspiration to me despite being ill, and I aspire to have both her wit and fearlessness throughout my life.
Two years ago, my dad also suffered from a stroke. He is the strongest person I know, and we are incredibly blessed that he has recovered.
There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.
I am running to raise awareness about strokes and the impacts they have on both the people they occur to and their families.
Your donation will help fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments as well as supporting vital services and campaigns.
