I'm taking part in the Great North Run 2026 as part of #TeamStroke

I joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run 2026.

There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

No survivor should have to face life after stroke without stroke support, providing consistent, tailored help on the long journey to recovery.

We work with the stroke community to ensure the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

This year I’ll be running the Great North Run in aid of the Stroke Association.

I’ve chosen this charity in memory of my dad, who sadly passed away in July 2025. Losing dad was incredibly hard, and it’s something that stays with me every day. Running a half marathon to me feels like a way to honour dad and to do something positive in his name by doing something I love and raise funds supporting a cause that helps so many people and families affected by strokes.

I’ve been running and getting into hitting my goals for a while now and signing up for the Great North Run felt like the right challenge to take on. Not just to push myself physically and mentally, but to raise funds for a charity that does vital, practical work supporting stroke survivors, fund research, and help people rebuild their lives.

The training and the race itself won’t be the easiest but it’s a challenge I want to see through for my dad. Every mile will be run with him in mind.

If you’re able to donate or share, I’d really appreciate the support, Thank you
