I joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run 2025.

There are over 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

We're here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

3 years ago my nanna suffered a stroke on Christmas Day. Unfortunately she never made a full recovery and is living with the long term effects of a stroke. This has left her bed bound and unable to care for herself therefore, having to rely on family and carers full time. We have had to watch my nanna lose all her independence and confidence which has been so heartbreaking. Nothing could have prepared us for what was to come after her stroke. Running for the Stroke Association means so much to me and to all the other people and families out there who have been effected by a stroke.
