I'm taking part in the Great North Run 2026 as part of #TeamStroke
I joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run 2026.
In 2014, my dad suffered a haemorrhagic stroke at only 44. I have seen first-hand how life-changing it can be, within seconds. I am running for this incredible charity as a thank you, and so they can continue their research, prevention work; and support for survivors and their families. Seeing the impact of a stroke first-hand is definitely something I won’t ever forget, and this is why I have decided to take on the challenge of the Great North Run!
There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.
No survivor should have to face life after stroke without stroke support, providing consistent, tailored help on the long journey to recovery.
We work with the stroke community to ensure the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
