I joined #TeamStroke for the Royal Parks Half Marathon 2026.

There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

We're here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

My story

Monday 11th May

I was 14 years old when I had my first stroke. It happened out of the blue…My entire family was shocked and scared. So was I….

I woke up in a hospital bed with half shaven head. It was horrible. I was so young. However I recovered very quickly. I was very lucky and blessed.

I was 24 years old when I had a second stroke…this time it was different. I didn’t have my entire family around me. I had only my sister and some friends who were there to support me. Yet again I recovered very quickly. I am still suffering with insomnia however it feels like a small price to pay for a quality life.

I must admit it now you have to appreciate each moment and make it count!

Life is so short and precious!
