I'm taking part in the Berlin Marathon as part of #TeamStroke
I have joined #TeamStroke for the Berlin Marathon 2024.
As many of you will know this is not my first marathon, however it will be my first as I battle my way back from a slipped disc and emergency surgery in January. Therefore having a great cause like the Stroke Association to support gives me drive and purpose as I push on with my rehab and getting back to fitness by targeting this race.
It is a cause close to my heart as my late dad, who was an outstanding marathon runner suffered two cerebral haemorrhages. As he learned to live after stroke with the changes to his health and fitness he turned a focus to supporting others volunteering locally with the Stroke Association.
There are over 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.
The Stroke Association are here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. Believing everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, working with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. They rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
