Brighton Marathon 2027
Brighton Marathon 2027
Until my nan suffered a stroke in 2016, I never truly understood how much a stroke could change a life.
Over the years that followed, I watched her health decline rapidly as she gradually lost mobility, speech, and much of the independence that once defined her. Watching the impact stroke had on both her and our family was heartbreaking.
After my nan passed away in March, I signed up for the Brighton Marathon 2027 knowing I wanted to push myself to my limits in her memory. This run is so much more than a race to me. It is a tribute to her strength, resilience, and determination, while also raising awareness and support for stroke survivors and their families.
Running 26.2 miles along the Brighton seafront feels especially meaningful. My nan loved being outdoors, and there is something incredibly special about taking on this challenge beside the sea; a place that reflects both peace and strength, much like her.
The Stroke Association helped my nan realise that life after stroke was not over, just different. With their support, and through her own incredible determination, she fought for years to maintain her independence and dignity. And she truly did so amazingly.
I am fundraising for the Stroke Association because the guidance, care, and support they provided became a lifeline for my family throughout this journey. Every donation will help support stroke survivors and their loved ones, while also funding vital research to help prevent strokes and improve recovery.
Please join me in celebrating my nan’s life while supporting others navigating their own stroke journey. Every donation, no matter how small, means the world.
This one’s for you, Nan.
