Why I'm Running the Great North Run for the Stroke Association
Wednesday 9th JulThis year, I’m taking on the Great North Run, not just for the challenge, but for a cause that means a great deal to me: Stroke Association.
Stroke is something that’s touched my life in a very personal way. My stepdad’s mum suffered a serious stroke, and I saw first-hand how deeply it affected her and everyone around her. It changed how she lived the rest of her life, taking away independence, mobility, and so many of the things we often take for granted. It was heartbreaking to witness, and it opened my eyes to just how devastating a stroke can be, not only physically, but emotionally and mentally too.
That’s why I’ve chosen to run in support of the Stroke Association. They do incredible work supporting stroke survivors and their families, funding life-saving research, and raising awareness of prevention and recovery. Every step I take in this race is in honour of those affected by stroke and I hope to raise as much as I can to help the Stroke Association continue their vital work.
If you’re able to donate or even just share my story, it would mean the world. Thank you for your support.
