I'm taking part in the Great North Run 2026 as part of #TeamStroke
I joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run 2026.
There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.
In July of 2023 my father suffered a stroke and it was a massive shock to my family. We spent everyday in the hospital with him and after weeks of physiotherapy and rehabilitation he was able to come home. 2 years later he is completely back to normal and it feels as if it never even happened. However he has told me that if it weren’t for our support, it would have made his recovery a lot more challenging. It makes me sad to think of the people without this support and their only option being to face the long road to recovery alone.
I will be running the great north run to raise money to provide these people with the support they need to recover just like my dad did.
