I'm taking part in the Brighton Marathon 2027 as part of #TeamStroke
In April 2027, I'll be running my first marathon at Brighton to raise £1,000 for the Stroke Association.
I'm taking on this challenge because my grandad suffered a haemorrhagic stroke in February 2026 which came completely out of the blue.
He spent four and a half months in hospital, and during that time he also broke his foot, which made his rehabilitation even more difficult. He has recently moved into Care for Veterans Home, where he continues to receive the support he needs.
Seeing what my grandad and our family have been through has really highlighted how life-changing a stroke can be. It's also shown me how important it is that people have access to the right support, and why continued research is so important.
The Stroke Association does incredible work supporting stroke survivors and their families, as well as funding research to improve treatment and recovery. That's why I've chosen to raise money for them.
I've never run a marathon before, so this will definitely be a challenge, but it's one I'm proud to take on for a cause that means a lot to me.
If you're able to donate, I'd really appreciate it. Every contribution, big or small, will help me reach my £1,000 target and support the work the Stroke Association does for people affected by stroke.
Thank you for your support.
