I'm taking part in the Great North Run 2025 as part of #TeamStroke

This year marks 20 years since I lost my father to a stroke. His memory drives me every day to make a difference in the lives of those who I support, as well as recognising the impact this has had on me both as a child and now as an adult.

As a registered hospital Social Worker, I have the privilege of working closely with multiple professionals and individuals who are navigating life after a stroke. I witness firsthand the resilience, courage, and strength of those affected by strokes, and it fuels my passion for this cause.

With over 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK and 100,000 strokes happening each year—that's one stroke every five minutes—the need for better care and support is urgent.

As I prepare for the AJ Bell Great North Run on 7th September 2025, I invite you to join me on this personal and heartfelt journey. 

My goal is to raise £350, which will go directly towards funding vital services, campaigning for better stroke care, and supporting research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to a future where strokes are preventable, treatable, and survivable. 

Together, we can make a profound impact on the lives of stroke survivors and their families.
