I'm taking part in the Great North Run 2025 as part of #TeamStroke

I joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run 2025.

There are over 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

We're here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

Why am I fundraising for Stroke?

Every year, thousands of lives are affected by stroke, unfortunately stroke can have devastating effects on those affected, as well as their family and friends. This is something very close to my heart. In 2009 my family lost my grandad to stroke, and in 2018 we lost my grandma to stroke. We witnessed the devastating consequences of how stroke impacts those who survive, as well as suffering the loss that it can cause. 

I have decided to run the great north run in memory of my grandma and grandad to fundraise for the stroke association who support stroke survivors to live their best life, no matter the consequences stroke has had. 

I would really appreciate any donation towards this amazing charity while I get my running shoes on and train for a half marathon!
