I'm taking part in the Royal Parks Half Marathon 2026 as part of #TeamStroke
I joined #TeamStroke for the Royal Parks Half Marathon 2026.
My dad had a MCA stroke in 2023 at 55 years old. You don’t realise how much stroke affects people until you have experienced it first hand. I didn’t even realise this as a doctor myself until my own family was affected.
Watching my dad learning how to walk and gain some use of his hand as well as learning how to speak all over again was so hard but also very impressive. Stroke association provides support for people especially with less support around them to cope and survive after a stroke and this is so needed to maximise recovery and help people rebuild their lives.
There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.
Stroke association are here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. They believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so they work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. They rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
I am running alongside my cousin, Emilie Tubbs please also show her your support too!
