I'm taking part in the Cardiff Half Marathon 2027 with #TeamStroke

I've joined #TeamStroke for the Cardiff Half Marathon 2027.

There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

No survivor should have to face life after stroke without stroke support, providing consistent, tailored help on the long journey to recovery. 

We work with the stroke community to ensure the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

As many of you know, my fabulous husband got diagnosed last year with epilepsy after a horrendous tonic clonic seizure, this year has been so tough for him but he fights on all the time. Not only does he have this ticking away, he lives with brain tumours that are inoperable, so he does the best he can to keep fit and healthy.
We run together to make sure he is safe as well as keeping fit within the parameters of the medications he takes.
He was lucky enough to be selected in the ballot to complete the Cardiff Half Marathon. I was not!!

So, plan B....run for charity!
When we looked at the list of supporting charities there was only one on there for us. 
Having seen the impacts of a stroke through my working career and more personally with my Dad, we couldn't think of a better charity to support. The huge importance of timely medical support and ongoing help can have such a huge impact on the level of recovery a person makes.  We were so lucky with my Dad that he had such swift support and amazing treatment, everyone deserves the best and if our little bit of fundraising makes even just a bit of a difference to one person then its all worth while.
