I am taking part in the 2026 Great North Run for #TeamStroke
I will be running the GNR for the third time this year for the Stroke Association, a charity that is so close to mine and my family's hearts.
My older sister Lisa sadly passed away in September 2021 following a sudden and unexpected catastrophic Hemorrhagic stroke that shattered our whole world as a family. Our beautiful Lisa was only 48 years old when she suffered her stroke and we miss her every minute of every single day.
Whilst sadly Lisa lost her life, fortunately there are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.
No survivor should have to face life after stroke without stroke support, providing consistent, tailored help on the long journey to recovery.
The Stroke Association work with the stroke community to ensure that they and their loved ones receive the very best care and support. They rely on fundraising activities and all of our support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
I am also running the GNR this year with my daughter Olivia, who has never taken part in an event like this before and will be running this iconic half marathon on behalf of her Aunty Lisa X
I would really appreciate any support you can provide to help me achieve my £350 Fundraising target for the Stroke Association.
Please follow my training progress on this page :-)
Thank you so much
Lindsay X
