I'm taking part in the Great North Run 2026 as part of #TeamStroke

I joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run 2026.

There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

No survivor should have to face life after stroke without stroke support, providing consistent, tailored help on the long journey to recovery.

We work with the stroke community to ensure the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

Global Wellness Day

Saturday 13th Jun

Jericho 10k

Sunday 7th Jun
Jericho 10k ticked off at 57:50. A decent enough benchmark as the mileage starts scaling up for the main event in September. Massive thanks to everyone who has chipped in so far, it really does help when the legs start complaining!

The 'comfort zone' has left the building!

Sunday 31st May
For the last few months, my running has just been about ticking over, easy, predictable 5k loops to keep the legs moving.

Today, that comfortable routine ended. I logged my first proper distance session, marking day one of a 15-week training block for the Great North Run on 13 September.

Between the intervals, tempo sessions, and Sunday long runs, the math says I'll cover about 534 kilometers by the time I hit the coast at South Shields. It's going to be a long, busy summer of chipping away at that total, especially with a few work courses and exercises thrown into the mix.

I'm doing this to raise money for the Stroke Association. They do incredible work supporting survivors and funding research, and keeping that cause in mind is going to be a massive help when the miles start biting.

The training plan is locked in and the momentum has started. If you’d like to keep the fire lit and kickstart my fundraising page, any donations would be a massive morale boost as I head into week two.
