I'm taking part in the TCS London Marathon 2027 with #TeamStroke
On the 15th January 2026 life as I knew it changed irreparably. My Dad, my wonderful, supportive, backed me for 34 years without fail, loved me wholeheartedly every day, Dad, had a major stroke.
And then 14 days later on the 29th January had a second major stroke and 2 peri-cardiac arrests, and has since had multiple seizures, pneumonia, meningitis and sepsis.
In total over the 12 weeks after my dad has almost died 7 times. seven. And well, that changes a person.
2 Thrombectomies and a whole host of incredible Surgeons, Doctors and Nurses saved my Dad's life. But only because Stroke UK pioneered the research in the the Thrombectomy procedure that made that possible. I am forever grateful for their work and their relentless push to give more people a fighting chance against the devastating affects of a Stroke on a person and their family.
I got my purple letter the same day my Dad got into a Nuero-Rehab to start to rebuild his life and so here i am. Facing not even half the challenge he is, but willing him to take just one step whilst I take around 60,000 next year to complete the marathon. So, here we go team...

My mum had a stroke three years ago and was left paralysed on the left side of her body. She has since learned to walk again and can now climb stairs. I am wishing your dad a safe and healthy recovery and I wish you and your family all the best. Xx
