Great North Run #TeamStroke
I’m running for #TeamStroke for the Great North Run this year.
In July 2021, 6 days after the COVID restrictions were lifted, my Gran had a major stroke and everything changed.
Her stroke occurred at some point during the night, which prevented any medical intervention, due to the unknown time frame.
She now has 24 hour nursing care as she is unable to move her body and her speech and communication is limited.
My Gran has missed out on so much since her stroke; from the mundane craft group, coffee trips with friends and church; to Weddings, Baptisms, great grandchildren being born and her 90th birthday.
I’m running for my Gran- not for a cure as I sadly know nothing will change but - for prevention, research and support for all families in the future.
