I'm taking part in the Great North Run 2026 as part of #TeamStroke
I joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run 2026.
There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.
Unfortunately we were the family that experienced that ‘one every five minutes’ statistic when my husband, Chris, had a stroke. Thanks to medical intervention and physio, he is hoping to make a full recovery.
This was not the first stroke in my family. My Grandma, May, also suffered from a stroke.
As a result, this cause is now close to my heart and I am raising money for the Stroke Association to help fund research on stroke prevention and treatment. It will also go towards helping stroke survivors to receive stroke support, providing consistent, tailored help on the long journey to recovery.
