I’m running the Great North Run 2026 as part of #TeamStroke, raising money for Stroke UK. My son Teddy will also be taking on the Mini Great North Run for the same cause.
This is something that means a lot to both of us. Strokes have affected our family personally—my Mum, Mother-in-law, Grandpa and Teddy's Great Uncle have all suffered from them. Seeing first-hand the impact they have, not just on individuals but on the people around them, is something we won’t forget.
In the UK, there are over 1.4 million stroke survivors, with around 100,000 strokes happening every year—that’s one every five minutes. Recovery can be long and difficult, and having the right support makes all the difference.
Stroke UK provides vital services, campaigns for better care, and funds research into prevention and rehabilitation—support that families like mine know is so important.
