I'm taking part in the Great North Run 2027 with #TeamStroke

I've joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run 2027.

There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

No survivor should have to face life after stroke without stroke support, providing consistent, tailored help on the long journey to recovery.

We work with the stroke community to ensure the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

I’m running the Great North Run 2027 for the Stroke Association

Monday 21st Sep

Hi everyone!

I’m excited (and a little nervous!) to share that I’ve signed up for the AJ Bell Great North Run on Sunday 12 September 2027 – and I’m doing it for the Stroke Association.

The Great North Run is the world’s biggest half marathon, taking 60,000+ runners from Newcastle across the Tyne Bridge and all the way to the coast at South Shields. It’s an incredible day, but for me it’s about so much more than the 13.1 miles.

Every five minutes, someone in the UK has a stroke. It’s a leading cause of disability and the fourth biggest killer. The Stroke Association is there for people from the moment a stroke happens, right through recovery and beyond – funding research, running support services, and campaigning for better care. I want to play my part in that.

I’ve committed to raising £400 to support their work. Every pound helps them provide life-changing support to stroke survivors and their families.

If you can spare anything – whether it’s £5, £10 or more – it would mean the world to me. You can donate securely through this page.

Thank you so much for reading, and for any support you can give. I’ll be posting training updates along the way, so please do follow my progress!

Thank you to my sponsors
