TCS London Marathon 2025

I'm taking part in the TCS London Marathon as part of #TeamStroke

Earlier this year our family life changed overnight when my wife Angharad suffered an Ischemic stroke just 2 days before her 32nd birthday.

Angharad woke up in the middle of the night with extreme vertigo and was unable to move the right side of her body. Her face had dropped and her speech was slurred.

Following an MRI in hospital a stroke was confirmed and Angharad was admitted onto the stroke ward for further tests and rehabilitation. During this time it was confirmed that her stroke was caused by a PFO (Patent foramen ovale) a hole between the left and right chambers of the heart which we didn’t know that she had.

I am in complete awe of my wife and the  strength and resilience she has shown throughout. She is still recovering with fatigue, reduced mobility and right sided weakness which are just some of the numerous obstacles she faces each day. But this doesn’t dampen her spirit, I married a fighter, who is the most amazing mother and role model to our daughter Cari.

I have decided to run the London Marathon next year to give something back to the Stroke Association who have provided my family with invaluable support during such a difficult time. I will always be grateful to Dave her co-ordinator who helped us navigate how to talk and explain to our daughter what had happened to her mother.

As a family we have received amazing support and just want to give something back.

Thank you for all your donations, every penny goes towards helping families just like ours who access support following a stroke.
