I'm taking part in the Great North Run 2025 as part of #TeamStroke
On Saturday 5th October 2024, I lost my amazing dad, Brian McKinley. He showed incredible strength and resilience after suffering five strokes, the first in June 2018. Despite everything, he remained the heart of our family.
I am running the Great North Run 2025 as part of #TeamStroke in his memory, to raise funds for the Stroke Association — a charity that does vital work supporting stroke survivors and their families, as well as funding research to prevent strokes and improve recovery.
There are over 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening every year — that’s one stroke every five minutes. The Stroke Association works tirelessly to help people rebuild their lives after stroke, campaigns for better care, and funds lifesaving research.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help others affected by stroke and honour my dad’s memory.
