I joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run 2026.

There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

No survivor should have to face life after stroke without stroke support, providing consistent, tailored help on the long journey to recovery.

We work with the stroke community to ensure the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

Why I am running for stroke association Uk

Monday 15th Sep

For those of you who know me know I lost my lovely grandma in December 2024. She was a wonderful women with the kindest heart and fiercely independent. However what you probably don’t know is that in 2019 she unfortunately suffered multiple strokes while home alone going about her usual day. Luckily she did continue on but with stroke victims the lifestyle you once had is often no more. She lost her independence and part of her spark along with that. So for her I am running my first ever GNR and fundraising for stroke association UK to help those who have had and unfortunately will continue to suffer from strokes and how they impact their lives and loved ones each day.
