I joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run 2026.

There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

No survivor should have to face life after stroke without stroke support, providing consistent, tailored help on the long journey to recovery.

We work with the stroke community to ensure the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

I’m taking part in the Great North Run 2026 in loving memory of my Nana, Mary, who we sadly lost due to a stroke.

Nana was the kind of person whose kindness, strength, and warmth touched everyone she met. Losing her left a huge hole in our hearts, but I know that she’d be cheering me on every step of the way, as she always did.

This run isn’t just about pushing my limits it’s a way to honor her memory and raise awareness for strokes. I hope to make her proud, as she was always proud of me. I’ll be carrying her spirit with me as I run, and I’m doing it for everyone affected by stroke.
