I'm taking part in the Great North Run 2027 with #TeamStroke

I'm running two half marathons two weeks apart in 2027 for the Stroke Association in memory of my two grandmothers, Diana and Daisy, who both sadly lost their lives to stroke. I'll be running my fourth Great North Run on Sunday 12th September, and following this up by making my debut in my local half marathon - the Robin Hood half around Nottingham two weeks later on Sunday 26th.

Diana passed away in 1997 when I was just nine years old, and Daisy in 2012. Stroke has therefore had a profound impact on my family, and taking on this challenge is my way of honouring their memory while helping others affected by this devastating condition.

Every five minutes, someone in the UK has a stroke. With more than 1.4 million stroke survivors nationwide, the need for support, treatment and research has never been greater.

The Stroke Association provides vital support to stroke survivors and their families, funds life-changing research, and campaigns for better stroke care across the UK.

If you're able to donate, no matter how much, I'd be incredibly grateful. Every contribution will help support those affected by stroke and bring us closer to a future where fewer families have to experience its impact.

Thank you for your support.

My updates

I decided to make it two in two!

Monday 28th Sep
After entering my fourth Great North Run (near where I used to call home) I decided to also make my debut at the half marathon where I now call home - the Robin Hood Half Marathon on Sunday 26th September 2027. So two half marathons, two weeks apart. I'd like to run both these for Stroke Association, so I'll wear my running vest with pride at both events :)
