I'm taking part in the Great North Run 2026 as part of #TeamStroke
I joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run 2026.
There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.
No survivor should have to face life after stroke without stroke support, providing consistent, tailored help on the long journey to recovery.
We work with the stroke community to ensure the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

My Reason
Monday 29th DecAfter visiting the TIA clinic in 2024 & finding out I’d had silent strokes. I made a complete lifestyle change, from partying and drinking to hiking and eventually running. Something I never imagined I’d enjoy!
During tests on my heart following the stroke, Doctors also found birth defects that I hadn’t been aware of: a Bicuspid Aortic Valve and a Dilated Ascending Aorta.
While unexpected, these discoveries reinforced just how important it was to make massive changes to my lifestyle.
This year, I’m running the Great North Run for the Stroke Association to raise awareness, support stroke survivors, and highlight that serious conditions aren’t always obvious 💙
