I’m running the Royal Parks Half Marathon 2025 to raise money for the Stroke Association.
In December 2023, my father-in-law suffered a major stroke. It was life-changing for him and traumatic for the family – especially for my wife, who was pregnant at the time. The Stroke Association does incredible work helping stroke survivors and their families navigate the long and often difficult road to recovery, from providing vital support services to funding life-saving research and campaigning for better care.
There are over 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening every year – that’s one every five minutes. My father-in-law has defied expectations in his recovery, and we’re so proud of him. His journey shows just how important this charity’s work is.
I’ve run a few half marathons before, but none since becoming a dad of two. My training plan has been less 'sub 2 hour elite athlete' and more 'fit it in between nappy changes and sleepless nights'. Any support you can give will make a real difference as I struggle towards the finish line.
