Running for Dave #TeamStroke

I've joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run 2026. I'm running for a great friend Dave Smith. Dave was a much loved Son to John and Nita, Husband to Sue, Father to Luke, Ben and Lucy and grandad, and loved by everyone he met. I know times are hard so I appreciate any donation you can afford. Every little helps to support survivors of a Stroke. Sadly Dave didn't get this chance. Please support #Running for Dave as I join 60'000 others take on the Great North Run. #Runningfordave

There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

No survivor should have to face life after stroke without stroke support, providing consistent, tailored help on the long journey to recovery. 

We work with the stroke community to ensure the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

Monday 11th May
Today I’m the Lead TTRO of all the Road Closures around our Bosworth Half Marathon. The day went absolutely fantastic thanks to all the helpers and mainly down to the leadership of “Race Director Tonks” Cheryl did and amazing job in getting this race off the ground this year and probably making it the best race to date?

Monday Social run with the Striders

Tuesday 5th May
A rare appearance for me to turn up to a Monday Social. 5 steady enjoyable miles with Satnam even though he was a moaning Minnie… taking in The Glenfield Tunnel Tunnel, the World’s Longest Steam Railway Tunnel when built.

Desford Striders GP of parkruns. loved that run around the course this morning with Cheryl, but felt it towards the end.

Posting the final 80 letters to the local residents around the Bosworth Half Marathon course with Si Clough. 16 miles covered in a very warm day. A nice cold pint afterwards, after all we earned that!

Slow - Steady - Solo. Enjoyable 4 miles around Bosworth Park, 1st mile was tough after a Sunday Social blow out, Miles 2&3 started to feel better, then Mile 4 down came the rain and did it rain...😒 Still miles is miles.

SJ Langton Ltd of Glenfield put on a raffle for my Charity. Scott and his team raised over £575+ 🤩 Thank you to all the team and to all the generous customers especially those who donated such wonderful gifts for the raffle. Scott has always supported my charity runs and I am eternally grateful to him. 🤩

The Disorderly gig

On Saturday night 11/05/26; The Disorderly supported my charity and we put a gig on in our local Club, The Thornton. It was an incredible night, so many people turned out, it blew me away with all the support for The Stroke Association. The Disorderly and Guest singers (myself included unfortunately for the audience ears..😂) were on top form. A great night had by all and we raised £600 + on the night. 🤩🤩🤩🤩

Charnwood Marathon.

27 miles today (21st) the start of my running year. All the training is over, now the races start. Charnwood Marathon all 27miles of it, Trails and Tracks to the peaks of Leicestershire including Bardon Hill - Bradgate Park up to Old John - Copt Oak - Cropston and back to Brush Bowls Club from where we started. Great run with the great company of Lisa Bettoney. 😎 This coming weekend see me running The Monsall Trail Half Marathon in Derbyshire. 😎

Monday 10/03/26; Solo 5.75 miles

Should’ve rounded this run up to a 6 miler. Just getting time out to keep the legs going in preparation for the Ultra that is getting closer… less than 2 weeks to go!🤦‍♂️😂😂
