🏃♀️ Running the London Marathon 2026 in Memory of My Beautiful Mummy 💜
On 17th March 2025, my world changed forever when I lost my beautiful Mummy to a catastrophic and completely unexpected haemorrhagic stroke. She was just 57 years old. As a family, we spent her final days by her side - talking to her, holding her hands, and surrounding her with endless love.
Just eight years earlier, we also lost my Grandad - my mum's father - after he experienced a stroke that sadly led to vascular dementia. Two strokes. Two incredible people. Two heartbreaking losses that my family and I will carry with us always.
Sadly, they’re not the only ones. I have so many other special people in my life who have been affected by stroke, directly or indirectly. It’s something that impacts far more lives than many people realise, often in an instant.
So that’s exactly why, in April 2026, I’ll be running the London Marathon for the Stroke Association - a charity that works tirelessly to improve stroke awareness, prevention, support, and research.
Running 26.2 miles will be a huge challenge for me - not just emotionally, but physically too. I live with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, so training and completing this marathon will push me far beyond my comfort zone. But I’m determined. I watched my incredible baby sister continue her Stockholm marathon training while our mummy was in hospital, and then go on to absolutely smash her first ever one just two months after we lost her. If she can do that with so much courage and strength, I know I can too - because we are both our mother’s daughters (Sorry Dad, but we definitely get it from her!).
Taking on this challenge will not only honour our mummy’s memory and continue her legacy, it will raise vital funds to help prevent other families from facing the same devastating loss.
If you can, please donate. Every penny and pound means the world to me - and will help the Stroke Association continue its life-saving work.
Thank you so much for your support 💜
