I'm taking part in the Great North Run 2025 as part of #TeamStroke
I am running the Great North Run this year for the Stroke Association, in honour of my grandfather. His first major stroke was at the age of 50, and continued to experience them throughout his life. These had a huge impact on both my grandfather and his family around him, rehabilitation is key to recovery and allowed my grandfather to sustain a normal life after his initial stroke.
100,000 strokes happen every year in the UK, one every 5 minutes. The stroke association works to rebuild people’s lives after, believing that everyone deserves to live the best life they can after a stroke. The stroke association provides funding into preventative and rehabilitative treatments , but rely on fundraising to provide this support.
